This week, we hosted a wonderful afternoon at Riverside Heights in Darwen to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE Day. This significant occasion continues to hold deep meaning for many people.

Our celebration brought together music, laughter and heartfelt reflections, creating a joyful atmosphere. The incredibly talented Kimberley-Jayne provided outstanding entertainment, taking us on a nostalgic journey through the decades with her superb vocals. From popular hits of the past to classic 1940s wartime favourites, Kimberley-Jayne’s performance had everyone tapping their feet, singing along, and reminiscing about days gone by.
An assortment of sandwiches, cakes, and refreshments, all prepared by Lesley and David from the Riverside Heights restaurant, delighted everyone. The event not only celebrated our history but also provided an opportunity to bring people together through music, food, and conversation, reminding us of the importance of connection and community.
At Willowbrook Homecare, we believe in honouring the experiences and listening to stories of the people we care for, and this afternoon was a perfect example of that. It was a pleasure to see everyone smiling, sharing memories, and taking pride in commemorating such an important day in history.
A massive thank you to Kimberley-Jayne for her brilliant performance and to everyone who helped make the event such a lovely and meaningful occasion.
