At Willowbrook Homecare, we understand that exceptional care starts with effective leadership. This week, we proudly hosted our second Front-Line Leadership Workshop, an in-house initiative designed to support, upskill, and empower our leadership teams across Lancashire.

Led by Training and Care Plan Lead, Anne Silcox, this engaging and interactive workshop brought together front-line leaders from across our services to refresh essential knowledge, reinforce best practice, and refocus on the core principles that underpin outstanding care and support.

A Tailor-Made Approach to Leadership Development

The workshop was carefully structured to meet the real-world needs of our teams. Attendees completed a bite-sized training workbook filled with practical activities and reflective exercises. Each module addressed real-life leadership challenges and explored how effective leadership directly impacts the lives of the people we support and the teams we work alongside.

To ensure all team members have the opportunity to benefit, two workshops have been arranged, reflecting our commitment to accessibility, continuous development, and leadership excellence.

Topics Covered in Today’s Session

Anne guided attendees through a series of focused modules, each tied to a key objective essential to delivering safe, high-quality care:

  • Effective Communication & Report Writing: Objective: Improve clarity, accuracy, and professionalism in all forms of communication.
  • Following Policies & Procedures: Objective: Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported accurately and promptly.
  • Reporting Accidents & Incidents: Objective: Promote accountability and enhance safety through timely reporting.
  • Safeguarding & Raising Concerns: Objective: Reinforce safeguarding responsibilities and reporting processes.
  • Onboarding & Accurate Information Collation: Objective: Support a smooth onboarding experience with precise and complete documentation.
  • Time Management & Use of Technology: Objective: Increase efficiency and productivity through effective task management and digital tools.
  • Leading by Example & Promoting a Positive Culture: Objective: Recognise the impact of leadership on team morale and service quality.
  • Conflict Resolution & Handling Difficult Conversations: Objective: Equip leaders with the skills to address and resolve workplace conflict effectively.
  • Delegation & Teamwork: Objective: Strengthen leadership through effective delegation and collaborative working.

Investing in Our People, Strengthening Our Service

Workshops like these reflect our ongoing commitment to prioritising the people we care for and the dedicated teams who support them. By equipping our front-line leaders with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to lead with clarity, compassion, and strength, we continue to build a service that is safe, responsive, and truly person-centred.

We look forward to welcoming our second group of leaders next week for the follow-up session.

A huge thank you to Anne for her expert facilitation and to all of today’s attendees for their energy, insight, and commitment to leading with purpose.
