At Willowbrook Homecare, we are proud to shine a light on the incredible individuals who make a meaningful difference every day.

Our Willowbrook Spotlight On… series celebrates the compassion, commitment, and care that our team members bring to their roles, and this month, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Beverley Lord, Supervisor at Albion Mill, Blackburn.

*How long have you been in the Care Sector/with Willowbrook?

I’ve worked in the care sector for 25 years, ever since leaving school. The last seven years have been with Willowbrook Homecare, and it’s been an incredible journey. Every day brings something different, and I’m proud to be part of a team that truly cares.

*What attracted you to the Care Sector?

Funnily enough, I originally wanted to be a childminder. But one day, I came across a career in care opportunity and decided to sign up with Training 2000, and I’ve never looked back.

My mum once told me she didn’t think I’d be able to work with adults in the care sector… I proved her wrong, and I still remember the day she said it! It gave me the drive to keep going, and I’ve built a career I truly love.

*What do you love most about what you do?

There’s so much to love, but the best part is being there for people, knowing I’m someone they can count on when they need support.

Whether it’s a listening ear, a helping hand, or simply being present, I take great pride in being that reliable person for the people we support.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Take each day as it comes and be grateful for still being here”

That advice has stuck with me through the ups and downs, and it reminds me to appreciate every moment and focus on what really matters.

Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you!

When I was 8, my mum was teaching me how to ride a bike. I was so busy watching and waiting for her to let me go that I didn’t notice I was heading straight for a lamppost—before I knew it, I went flying over the handlebars!

It’s been 32 years, and I haven’t been on a bike since!

Beverley’s passion and care for others shine through in everything she does. Her journey is a perfect example of how dedication, heart, and resilience create a real impact in people’s lives.

Thank you, Beverley, for all that you do.
