At Willowbrook Homecare, we proudly share the inspiring stories of our dedicated team members—those who bring compassion, experience, and excellence to their roles every day.
In this week’s Willowbrook Spotlight On…, we are delighted to introduce Kate Chadwick, Care Coordinator in Lytham, who brings over 30 years of experience, warmth, and a down-to-earth sense of humour to everything she does.
*How long have you been in the Care Sector/with Willowbrook?
I’ve been in the care sector for more than 30 years, and I joined Willowbrook Homecare just over six months ago. It’s been a brilliant place to continue doing the work I love.
*What attracted you to the Care Sector?
At 16, I signed up for a Youth Training Scheme because I was told I couldn’t become a mechanic, as I was “a girl”! I spotted a vacancy in health and social care, took a chance, and never looked back. Aside from maternity leave, I’ve been in care ever since.
*Where do you see yourself in five years?
I don’t tend to look too far ahead; I focus on the present and doing my role well. If I’m happy, challenged, and making a positive impact, that’s exactly where I want to be.
*How do you achieve satisfaction or success in your role?
For me, satisfaction comes from knowing I’m trusted to do my job and that I’m still learning. Feeling valued and seeing the difference I can make each day is what drives me.
*Do you have a mentor? If so, tell us about them, what or who inspires you?
Yes, Mary Noone. We’ve worked together before and always had a strong professional relationship. She’s someone I truly respect and have learned a great deal from.
*What’s the best advice you’ve ever received/or would give to others?
When facing a big challenge, don’t look at it as one overwhelming problem. Break it down into smaller, manageable steps and chip away at it. It’s the best way to stay calm and get things done.
*What do you enjoy most about what you do?
Ensuring people are properly cared for and treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. That’s the heart of what this job is all about.
*Tell us a surprising or fun fact about you!
I’m a bit of a nerd. I love Lego, have four PlayStation consoles, and I’m a huge fan of horror games and films!
Kate’s experience, empathy and energy reflect the heart of great care. We’re proud to have her on the Willowbrook team in Lytham
Thank you for all you do, Kate.
